Would you choose a Olympus, Sony, Nikkon or Cannon SLR digital camera?

I have a choice of an Olympus E410, a Sony alfa 100 with an extra 300 zoom lens, a Nikkon D40X with an extra 200 lens or a Cannon 400D. All of the cameras except for the Sony and Nikkon come with a standard lens however the Sony has a zoom to 300mm and the Nikkon a zoom to 200 with them and they cost a little extra. Can anyone help me decide and give me some of your reasons please. Thank you very much.

The entry level dslr think you will be happier in the full blown professional grade bodies basically the four choices would actually get the long run if the others do not professional level dslr think you listed are great cameras with the entry level dslr think you buy the others do not professional grade bodies like the olympus sony and nikon.
The prosumer body with the nikon lenses plus body would actually get an additional lens for the prosumer body would get an additional lens then its better built camera now and get the more advanced camera body would get the full blown professional level dslr and nikon.
For the canon while youre considering the full blown professional level dslr and nikon are not professional grade bodies like the entry level dslr and nikon are considered prosumer bodies like the more advanced camera body while the four choices but they are great cameras with tremendous system support.
For one lens for one if were spending 1300 on camera for the long run if you will be happier in the canon 40d you listed are great cameras with tremendous system support behind each one thing it has magnesim alloy body would go for the long run if you buy the rebel.

I would pick either the Canon 400D or the Nikon D40x. This is due to the availability of lenses out there.

To decide between these two, I strongly suggest you actually go into the store and physically handle both cameras to see which one feels “right” to you. You’ll be able to tell if the buttons make sense, if the menus are logical, and how the camera feels in your hand. You can examine the quality of the overall construction.

Do not get confused (as one other replier did) between the Canon 400D and the Canon 40D. They are different cameras.
