if you check the features ull c that the 350 has more convinece on more things like higher quality pics

    Sony A300 – 10.2 megapixel $699.00
    Sony A350 – 14.2 megapixel $899.00

The A300 also has a slightly faster FPS (frame per second) rate than the A350.

IMO you’d do well to buy the A300 and use the $200.00 towards another lens.

You are correct, they share most features. How you anticipate using the camera will probably determine which you choose, but I’d lean toward the A350 for the greater detail , and not complain at the slightly slower continuous frame rate and minimal reduction in battery life.

The A350 goes 14/3.5mp for it’s largest/smallest ‘normal’ image vs. 10/2.5mp for the A300 (12/2.9mp vs. 8.4/2.1mp in 16:9 mode respectively)…basically what the earlier person said more pixels=larger images at the same detail, or more detail at ’standard’ print sizes.

The A300 shoots 3 frames/second in continuous mode, while the A350 shoots 2 fps [the article said 2.5fps for the A350, and "about 3fps" for the A300, so there's some rounding of numbers in the specs].

The A300 will take about 10 more images on a full battery charge 740 vs. 730, but that seems logical since they share processor and battery [the greater detail probably just demands a little more 'juice']. Not a huge trade off.

In a nut-shell. The A350 takes a more detailed picture, but if you’re more interested in faster continuous shooting, or shooting 1.36% more shots and saving $100.00 [1.125%] the A300 would be your choice. [edit. the article lists the prices at $800 US for the A300 and $900 for the A350, but I didn't check other price sources]

The A300 is. I’d assume noise performance is ever so slightly better on the A300. FPS > MP, so even a slight increase in that area would be better than a 4 MP increase. Anyone who tells you that 14 MP is any kind of different froRAm 10 MP is being tricked by the manufacturers. Plus, shooting at 14 MP is insane – your memory card will be full in no time. If you pick the A350 you might find yourself using the ~10 MP quality option anyways to fit more pictures in. The flash sync on the A350 is also worse, which is not always a problem, but can be critical in harsh lighting situations – you don’t want to get stuck without this feature and be forced to accept crappy shadow areas where no detail is left. Both function identically otherwise.

I would like the A300 better than the A350 normally. But what’s this? You save $200 buying the A300 instead of the A350! That’s a great deal: usually the better the camera the more expensive.

One last note – the companies that want you to buy amped up versions of their cameras because of higher pixel count are trying to trick you. Since pixel count is the most prominent (and by far, the most overrated; if I were to rank it, it would be right down there with number of custom menu functions, maybe even below: too little is awful, but more than a certain amount is somewhat nice and also just a little bit overkill) system for rating camera performance, these manufacturers stuff their cameras full of megapixels and sell them for a large profit. These cameras are often slightly worse, like the D40x/D60 and, of course, the A350, which we are discussing here. People who fall for this are usually losing better performance and an extra lens, which is not a good trade for ~4 MP.
