Its a great Digital Camera the W130, as i've just brought one, to replace my DSC S600.

Great Wide angle lens 28mm and 5x optical zoom (most DC just have 3), also it has 'Anti Blur & SteadyShot' for Blur free photos

I was really tempted by the Panasonic TZ5 with a 10x Zoom and 720p Video mode, But Panasonic cameras have been critsied lately for using 'agressive noise reduction'.

Yes it shoots Black & White... Just go into 'colour mode' and choose Black & White

I am not sure what country you live in but I can tell you that Sony does make a great camera except for the Memory Card that they use. In the US, the SD card is the most widely used card. Sony uses a Memory stick which is Sony brand specific and cannot be used by any other brand. The SD card can be used by many brands. The camera that you are looking at has a great lens and 5x optical zoom is good for the size of the camera. If you want to stay with Sony brand or invest a little more in the memory card then this a great option.

When it comes to black and white pictures, any picture kiosk or personal computer will be able to turn pictures to black and white so even if you camera does not, it is very easy to do.
